 Missions

Zerubbabel Ministries are firm advocates of the principle of Tithes and Offerings. We believe the first fruits of our labour should be given to our local church in the form of our tithe and our abundance should be given as our offering in support of the Kingdom of God both nationally and internationally, as led by The Holy Spirit.

We believe it is absolutely impossible to out give God and that in reality our giving is not from our own purse but rather giving back to God what is already His. Giving of our time, gifts, talents and finances is our grateful act of grace to God, who by grace gave of Himself, in the person of Jesus Christ, that we would become heirs to the Kingdom of God. How right it seems therefore, to support this Kingdom here on earth.

Grace (charis) is a favour or benefit bestowed. Giving is our grateful response to the great gift given to us in Christ (by grace). Giving is the bestowal of a benefit on others that in turn stimulates their response of praise to God.  The very freedom we have to give generously is in itself a gift and recognition of God’s own gracious commitment to supply all our needs in order that our abundance might overflow to meet the needs of others.

What a privilege to see giving not as a duty or a burden, but as our act of grace. How wonderful to understand that our weekly tithe at church and our regular support of missions and the needy through our offerings is truly a source of joy.

APPEAL FROM THE HEART

When Nehemiah heard of the plight of Gods people, he wept and spent much time in prayer, fasting and repentance (Nehemiah: Chapter one). I recently received an e-mail from West Africa that had the same effect on me. I don’t normally use this web site to appeal on behalf of Zerubbabel Ministries or any other ministries, but the plight of this man of God and his people can not go ignored! Part of this e-mail is reproduced below.

These unfortunate people are clearly in dire circumstances. If, like me, you are moved to tears by this cry for help from a pastor on behalf of his flock, please join this ministry in prayer and fasting. If you feel led to contribute practical assistance, in whatever form, please let me know and I will advise how you can help.

Zerubbabel Ministries are planning a missions trip to Africa, later this year. One of the places we plan to visit is this refugee camp, in order to provide whatever help and assistance we possibly can. If you would like to be a part of this missions trip by contributing in some way please contact: missions@zerubb.com

'By way of introduction, I am Pastor Rutherford Sankawulo, A Liberian Refugee and I live on the Liberian Refugee camp, in Accra, Ghana, West Africa a camp of Forty Five Thousand (45,000) Refugees. This is because of the civil war in the country, but by the grace of God Almighty, things are turning in our interest, to God be the glory.

We, as a nation have suffered from a lot of setbacks during the fourteen years of civil conflict. In addition, the increase in premature death of Babies and mothers for the lack of food and proper care have resulted in many things that cannot be expressed by human words. Food on this divide is like diamonds, no clothes, no drinking water for the refugees, and in addition and most importantly, the lack of the word of God which has led to the deadness of the entire Christian community. We have a Ministerial Network of 200 Pastors and church workers, with about 120 churches. We believe that when God sees humanity, He sees our spiritual needs first before our physical, even though we are hungry here, we need the word of God seriously'.

"Let no one be discouraged by the belief there is nothing one person can do against the enormous array of the world's ills; misery, ignorance and violence. Few will have the greatness to bend history, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events. And in the total of all those acts will be written the history of a generation."  Robert Kennedy: 1925-1968
